AYM Regulator - Flexible Looks
I recently worked on a product rendering project for A. Y. McDonald where we ended up with 540 different image variations. The setup included 9 camera angles, 5 weather conditions, 4 wall materials, and 3 ground materials. Once the base scene was built in 3D, creating all these combinations was straightforward.
Doing this with traditional photography would be a nightmare. You'd need to coordinate locations, wait for specific weather, bring multiple lenses, and if you wanted to change wall materials, you'd basically have to rebuild physical sets each time. The time and cost would add up fast.
In 3D, I just placed the product in the environment, adjusted the weather settings, and swapped materials as needed. Morning fog, rainy conditions, concrete walls, brick textures—all of it was just a matter of changing parameters.
People sometimes ask if AI can handle this kind of work now. It's getting there, but it still struggles with consistency, especially when you need precise control over specific products. For now, 3D gives you that control without the limitations of physical shoots.
A few years back, this type of project would've required serious studio resources and budget. These days, it's accessible enough that it doesn't need all that infrastructure, which makes it a practical option for more businesses.
